Time Passes. Even When It Seems Impossible.

Outfit Details: Tee: Nordstrom's, Necklace: F21, Shorts: Vintage Levi's, Tights: AE, Boots: Frye, Shades: AE

So, the wait is over! New Moon is in theatres!
Sadly, I didn't brave the crowds to see it at 12 a.m. this morning. Mostly because I went to the 12 a.m. showing of Twilight and it was literally a theatre full of screaming 12 year olds, not really my cup of tea. Plus, I was sorely disappointed by the movie (remember this is my opinion, you are entitled to yours as well). The book was phenomenal, I couldn't put it down, but the movie just didn't do it for me and it was coupled with some really bad acting. I laughed out loud when Edward was sucking the venom out of Bella's hand in the ballet studio, and that's not suppose to be funny, but come on his facial expression! Really? It makes me chuckle still. The books still own my heart, and I have high expectations for New Moon. I'm seeing it tomorrow, and I'll let you know how it goes :)
Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me. -Bella

The Colour On My Mood Ring

I looked out my bedroom window this day and the entire back yard was covered in yellow leaves. It was pretty magical looking, so I decided to release my inner five year old and play in the leaves, it lasted a total of fifteen seconds because I saw a giant spider taking refuge in a pile right by my feet (and I have mild arachnophobia).
Outfit Details: Sweater: French Connection, Belt: vintage, Denim: Express, Socks: We Love Colors, Wedges: Cynthia Vincent via Gilt, Necklace: gift, Bracelets: DIY, Watch: Timex

After I saw J. Crew's fall catalog, I wanted a pair of bright colourful socks to prolong my summer shoes into the fall. Now, I know that its considered a fashion faux pas to wear socks and sandals, but some rules are meant for breaking (within reason, I don't condone this or this) I don't know about you but $25 for three pairs of socks wasn't really practical, so The Budget Babe tracked me down affordable colourful socks from We Love Colors and I am totally smitten.
Thanks BB :)

Dear Dakota Fanning...

Sweet little Dakota Fanning, wait wait, she's not little any more. In fact, she's all grown up and owning her style and let me tell you, she looks stunning. Move over ladies because Dakota has arrived and I don't think she's messing around. She is the cover girl for Teen Vogue's December/January issue that recently hit newsstands, and if you haven't picked up a copy yet do so, because the style this issue is pumping out makes my heart skip a beat, I mean look at that Gucci dress on the cover!
Hello Marc Jacobs, I love your shoes. Muah.
Just when I thought Rodarte x Target had slipped my mind, Dakota sports this leopard print sequin detailed dress, and I die. I put 17 different colours of marker around the December 20th square on my calendar, and this dress will be mine! As for Dakota, she has an edgy role as Jane, in the upcoming New Moon movie which hits theatres this Friday, and I am just as excited to she her as I am Edward :) I still can't believe how grown up she is! I always thought she was an amazing actress, but now she has upped the anti, at least for me and all I can say is...
"You go girl" (cliche, but frankly my dear I don't give a damn!)

You're A Mess, But I Like It

Outfit Details: Top: Lucky, Denim button down: AE, Denim: 7 for all Mankind, boots: Alice + Olivia x Payless, Necklace: gift, Shorts: BCBG, Bag: Urban Expressions, Coat: Calvin Klein

So, I have had a million things to do in the last two weeks and haven't had a chance to post half the stuff I wanted too. Boo. I did manage to snag this faux leopard jacket from Nordstrom's Rack for (HOLD YOUR BREATH) $40! It was an insane find and made me super happy. Its so soft and fuzzy, its perfect for when I have to trek across campus in 20 degree weather. It was a large so I had to have it altered and I can't wait to get it back.
Which brings up a good point, don't be afraid to buy a size or two larger than your normal if that's all that's left, you can take it to your seamstress most of the time and have it tailored to fit you :) I stopped looking at the size on label a long time ago and opted to buy based solely upon how it fit and made me feel. And this jacket makes me feel amazing!

The Very Fuzzy Caterpillar

Outfit Details: Blazer: Target, Tee: AE, Belt: F21, Skirt: H&M, Socks: Macy's, Shoes: Tory Burch

I found this fuzzy little guy in between all the pine needles while I was walking around, and I'm actually surprised I didn't crush him. He was the fuzziest caterpillar I have ever seen. I was having a Sex and The City marathon the other day and I saw Carrie sport some over-the-knee socks and it reminded me that I had a pair! Don't you love it when you rediscover things :) Well, after I "rediscovered" them, I quickly realized why I forgot about them in the first place. When you walk, its nearly impossible to keep them up without having to readjust every five seconds. Talk about defeated, but I am determined to make them work. I'll dream up some hair brain idea to make them stay because they look fabulous (in my opinion). Til' then I'll be scouring the Internet for the purrrfect pair of leopard print tights!

Off With Her Head

Or just her hair :)
So, I have been talking about wanting to cut my hair off for a while and I woke up looked at myself in the mirror and thought this is it, I'm getting it cut and I did. I cut off about 11 inches and by the time it was all said and done, it looked like a small dog had died on the floor. Its completely weird to me, my hair being this short, having long hair has always been my m.o., but I wanted all the colour cut out of my hair, and well all the color is gone :) Its just going to take some getting use too, plus I always wanted my natural hair colour for my wedding (not that I'm getting married anytime soon HA HA), its one of my weird quirks.

Outfit Details: Lace Top: Free People, Dress & Necklace: F21, Leggings: Dex, Bag: Urban Expressions Boots: Seychelle's, Sock: We Love Colors

Urban Expressions sent over this beautiful bag and I can't get enough of it. I am completely in love with the colour, its this great cobalt blue. AND the studs! Completely enamoured by all the gun metal studs. Need Supply Co. has some great bags from UE, that I'm dying to get my hands on, like this one and this one. I have to admit, it is the first vegan hand bag that I have owned, but I love it just the same as my leather bags, so do the cows that live down the road :) Be sure to check them out, they are super budget friendly (something I love infinitely)
Happy Fall dolls!

Eternal Sunshine

Outfit Details: Top: Hollister, Vest: Mink Pink, Jeans: Adriano Goldschmied, Shoes: Nicole, Headband: Target
It was so gorgeous this day, all I wanted to do was lay in the grass and soak up the sunshine. I never really look forward to winter, as I am sure I was made with the intentions of never being in less than 75 degree weather. The only thing I like about winter is big boots :) I ordered a pair of Jessica Simpson over the knee boots and I can't wait for them to come.
I've slowly been checking things off on my to do list, and I managed to clean out most of my closet :) I opened up a "shop my closet" and almost everything is up on that site, so be sure to check it out :) If you have any questions about any of the items feel free to e-mail me @ talkprettytome@gmail.com
Happy shopping lovers. Enjoy the sunshine.
